Bij Contextuele Studies gebruiken we verschillende kennisgebieden of kennisdomeinen, die binnen contextuele studies niet als aparte vakken worden onderwezen.

Dat zijn:

• Geschiedenis (muziekgeschiedenis, cultuurgeschiedenis en algemene geschiedenis)
• Analyse
• Aspecten van harmonie
• Aspecten van contrapunt

We putten hieruit wanneer dat nodig en relevant is in relatie tot het onderwerp van dat moment, en wanneer we bezig zijn met onderzoek.

Dit betekent bijvoorbeeld dat we bij Contextuele Studies praten over aspecten van harmonie en aspecten van contrapunt die illustratief zijn op dat moment.

Het leren schrijven van Harmonie en Contrapunt wordt onderwezen in aparte vakken/modules.

In Contextual Studies we use different knowledge domains, which are not taught as separate disciplines. They are:

• History (musical, general and cultural)
• Analysis
• Aspects of harmony
• Aspects of counterpoint

We draw from them when necessary and relevant in relation to the musical topic on the agenda of that moment, and when doing research.

This means for example for harmony and counterpoint that we talk about aspects of harmony and aspects of counterpoint which are illustrative on that moment.

Harmonic and contrapuntal writing as a discipline and technique are taught in separate courses.
