Key terms: acousmatic experience, musical motion and musical emotion, the working of Gestalt principles in (musical) perception, auditory streaming, auditory scene analysis, sounds as "things".

Comment on Scruton's opinions about "the most important tone in any melodic scale" (14), the importance of the "well-tempered scale" (15).

Why are the spatial analogies Scruton refers to essential for the appreciation of music?
